Export/Connect an Exchange Mailbox

Export an Exchange 2013 Mailbox:

1. Add the Mailbox Import Export Role to a Role Group

New-ManagementRoleAssignment -Name "Import Export_Enterprise Support" -SecurityGroup "Enterprise Support" -Role "Mailbox Import Export"

2. Create a Mailbox Export Request

New-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox AylaKol -FilePath "\\SERVER01\PSTFileShare\Ayla_Recovered.pst"

Connect an Exchange 2013 Mailbox:

1. Verify to see that the mailbox still exists:

Get-MailboxDatabase | Get-MailboxStatistics | Where { $_.DisplayName -eq "<display name>" } | fl DisplayName,Database,DisconnectReason,DisconnectDate

2. Connect the Mailbox:

In the EAC, navigate to Recipients > Mailboxes.
Click More More Options Icon, and then click Connect a mailbox.

Configure Deleted Mailbox Retention Time:

Set-MailboxDatabase <database_name> -MailboxRetention 45.00:00:00
Get-MailboxDatabase | fl mailboxretention,name
//Replace 45.00:00:00 with the number of days, hours, minutes, and seconds for the retention period
